Making a big batch of chocolate peppermint brownies is what the holidays are all about. My house smells amazing and my belly is happy. This is one of our favorite Christmas recipes, for sure.

These are easy to make too because the brownie is a box mix! The homemade icing is what makes this so scrumptious.

Chocolate Peppermint Brownies

Ingredients

For the brownies:
1 box betty crocker dark chocolate brownie mix
eggs
oil
water

For the peppermint frosting:
1 C unsalted sweet cream butter, softened
2 C powder sugar
1 tsp peppermint extract
2 tsp heavy whipping cream
Chocolate ganache ingredients
8 oz semi sweet chocolate
1 C heavy whipping cream
1 1/2 C crushed candy canes

Directions :

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees
Tear a piece of parchment paper off that will cover the whole bottom of the glass pan and slightly come up the sides
Follow the directions on the back of the brownie box and once baked, allow to completely cool
Once cooled, using a standing mixer, combine the butter, powder sugar, peppermint extract and heavy whipping cream.
Mix on medium speed until combined and stiff peaks form.
Spread the frosting onto the cooled brownies
