Ingredients FRENCH TOAST4 ounces cream cheese, softened at room temperature1 tablespoon granulated sugar1 tablespoon heavy cream1 (1-pound) loaf challah bread or brioche, sliced into 16 slices CUSTARD2½ cups whole milk1/4 cup heavy cream6 eggs1/2 cup granulated sugar1/2 cup brown sugar1 tablespoon vanilla extract2 teaspoons cinnamon1/4 teaspoon salt Preparation FOR THE FRENCH TOAST: Mix together the cream cheese, sugar and heavy cream. Smear a little of the cream cheese mixture on one side of each slice of bread and top it with another slice (you’re basically making 8 sandwiches); set them aside. FOR THE CUSTARD: In a large bowl, whisk together the milk, cream, eggs, granulated sugar, brown sugar, vanilla, cinnamon and salt. TO ASSEMBLE: 1.Preheat oven to 350 F.2.Butter a casserole dish with a little butter.
